One of the UK’s most beautiful walks is an ‘immense wintery landscape’ | Travel News | Travel

As the temperature drops and with Christmas just around the corner, it’s the ideal time to head out on a winter walk.

But where are the UK’s prettiest winter walks? There are plenty of spots for Brits to discover this winter.

According to the expert travel team at Verdant Leisure, Cheddar Gorge is one of the most beautiful places to walk this winter.

An expert said: “Nestled within the Mendip Hills, lies an area of outstanding natural beauty; boasting over 12 million hashtags on TikTok, Cheddar Gorge is a must-see for anyone looking for a memorable experience.

“This immense wintery landscape offers mysterious caves (with two of the UK’s biggest show caves), pinnacles, rolling hills and cliffs ready to be explored.

“With famous landmarks such as Jacob’s Ladder and a three mile clifftop walk to take in the views of Somerset, this wintery walk deserves its 4.5-star rating from Tripadvisor and is perfect for the avid explorer.”

A limestone gorge, Cheddar Gorge is one of the UK’s most impressive natural wonders. Britain’s oldest human skeleton, the Cheddar Man, was found there in 1903.

At nearby Gough’s Cave, tourists will find mysterious chambers that have been there for more than 500,000 years.

Tourists can pick up an audio guide if they want to discover some of the secrets of Gough’s Cave.

‘Barry C’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Gough’s Cave was very impressive throughout and the audio tour helped explain the geology of the cave.”

‘Carolyn Brown’ said: “Outstanding beauty driving up through the caves. Lovely mountain goats grazing on the slopes.”
