This incredible walk is a new favourite for Brits wanting to explore the UK’s scenery and it has an even more exciting adventure at its end.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic, Brits have increasingly begun to appreciate and explore more what we have here in the UK in terms of nature and this walk is becoming more and more popular.
The West Highland Way: Bridge of Orchy to Fort William walk has been named as one of the best in the UK by Conde Nast Traveller.
Located in Scotland, the walk really does feature some of the most incredible scenery the UK has to offer.
If you’re up for a challenge, you can try and tackle the whole West Highland Way, which is a gruelling 96-mile-long. The journey between Bridge of Orchy and Fort William is instead an easier 36-mile-long – and you’ll need three days to complete it.
Once you get to the end, you can take a ride on Fort William’s Jacobite steam train.
One person who went on the train said on Tripadvisor: “This is one of the best things I have done. The Scottish highlands are one of the most beautiful places in the world that I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. This train ride give you a nice relaxing trip through some beautiful areas.”
The hike goes from Bridge of Orchy all the way to Fort William and if you want to complete different sections of it, you can start at any point and continue along the way from there.
Day one of the hike features the mountains of Glen Coe, which rise out of Rannoch Moor.
You can take a rest at Kingshouse before climbing up over snow-flecked summits to Kinlochleven.
Towards the end of the hike, you will see Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain.
You’ll finish in Fort William which has connections to major cities including Glasgow, London or back to the Bridge of Orchy.
But before you leave the town of Fort William, make sure to explore all the exciting things it has to offer in celebration of completing the hike.
You can catch a boat cruise from the town which offers scenic trips around some of Fort William’s best historic and cultural sights.
Alternatively, you can visit the West Highland Museum which is famous for its Jacobite exhibits and for its local history collection.
